The U.S. Embassy in Rome/Italy is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the temporary position of “Visa Clerk”, available immediately thru September 30, 2020. The work schedule for this position is Full Time (40 hours per week) Start date: Candidates must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications, or their candidacy may end.
Reporting to the Non-immigrant Visa Unit local Supervisor, the incumbent of this position will serve as Visa Clerk, thus assisting the entire Non-immigrant Visa Unit with the following: non-immigrant visas intake, visa printing, passport pass-back and pre-loading. Duties will also include responding to email inquiries and providing accurate information in English and Italian.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements: EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one (1) year of experience in an office or clerical setting, involving extensive public contact and evident customer service.
Education Requirements: A high school diploma is required.
Evaluations: LANGUAGE: Good working knowledge of English (both written and spoken); this may be tested. Fluent Italian (both written and spoken); this may be tested.SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to work efficiently, balancing accuracy and customer service in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Excellent interpersonal skills. Basic internet skills (email, Google searches, etc.).
