Milano Public Transport To and From the Airport
Whether you’re arriving or departing, Milan offers quick and simple transportation options from each of its three airports. In this guide, you can find everything you need to know to make your journey to and from Milan’s airports as simple as possible.
Milan’s Main Airports
Milan has three main airports – Malpensa, Linate and Bergamo – each with its own public transportation options.
Malpensa Airport (MXP): Located approximately 50 kilometers from the city center, Malpensa is the largest of the three airports in Milan.
Milano Linate Airport (LIN): Mainly used for domestic and short-haul European flights, Linate is the closest airport to the city center, positioned just 7 kilometers away.
Bergamo Airport (BGY): Also known as Orio al Serio International Airport, this airport with low-cost airlines is located around 45 kilometers of Milan’s city center, and 5km from the city of Bergamo.
Public Transport Options
Milan Malpensa – Milan City Centre
1. Milan Malpensa Express Train: Malpensa Airport is easily reached by train through the Malpensa Express, connecting the airport to the main city center stations – Centrale, Porta Garibaldi, Bovisa and Cadorna. The journey time can range between 38 and 54 minutes, depending on the chosen destination.
Malpensa Airport to Milano Centrale has stops in Milano Bovisa Politecnico and Milano Porta Garibaldi, and it takes 54 minutes to reach the final destination at Centrale.
Malpensa Airport to Milano Cadorna stops in Milano Bovisa Politecnico and takes 38 minutes to reach the final destination at Cadorna.
The trains run every 15 minutes, and they have stops at both Terminals 1 and 2. Click here to check the lines and timetables.

2. Shuttle Buses: Bus services are operating between Malpensa Airport and Milan’s Central Station, with three operators: Terravision, Malpensa Bus Express (Autostradale) and Malpensa Shuttle (Air Pullman).
Terravision runs every 20 minutes, between 5:05 am and 00:10 am, with travel times of 40 minutes from Terminal 2 and 50 minutes from Terminal 1. A one-way Terravision ticket costs €10, and tickets can be bought online on the Terravision website, in person at the bus station or at the Terravision ticket dispensers in T1 and T2 arrival areas.
Malpensa Bus Express (Autostradale) runs every 20 minutes between 4am and 11pm, with the same travel times as Terravision. A one-way ticket costs €10, and tickets can be bought online, in person at the bus station or at the Malpensa Bus ticket dispensers in T1 and T2.
Malpensa Shuttle (Air Pullman) runs every 20 minutes between 3:45 am and 00:15 am, with travel times of 45 minutes from Terminal 2 and 50 minutes from Terminal 1. A one way ticket costs €10, and it can be bought online or on-board.
Milan Linate – Milan City Centre
1. Metro – The journey between the city center and Linate Airport takes just 12 minutes with the M4 blue metro line. The line operates daily, starting at 6:00am and running until 12:30 am, with stops in San Babila, Tricolore, Dateo, Susa, Argonne, Stazione Forlanini, Repetti and Milan Linate. Interchanges with the regional rail network and other metro lines can be done at San Babila, Dateo and Forlanini.
During the night service, the NM4 line replaces the M4, offering the transport service to and from the airport between 00:30 am and 5:30 am from Monday to Friday and on public holidays. On the weekends, the metro runs between 12:30am to 5:30 from Milan Linate to San Babila, and between 01:00am and 5:30 am from San Babila to Milan Linate.
2. Shuttle Buses – Linate Shuttle (Air Pullman) offers bus shuttles between Milan Linate and Milano Centrale, with intermediate stops in Dateo. The travel time takes 25 minutes between the central station and the airport, and 10 minutes between Dateo station and Linate. A one-way ticket costs €7, and it can be purchased online or on board.
Milan Bergamo (Orio al Serio) – Milan City Centre
Bergamo Airport isn’t connected to the city center by a direct train, therefore the easiest way to reach the airport by public transport is with the bus. There are 4 operators offering shuttle buses between the Bergamo Airport and Milano Centrale: Orio Shuttle, Autostradale, Flibco and Terravision.
Flibco offers buses that run between 07:15 am and 00:15 am, with prices starting at €9. Tickets can be bought on-board or online here.
Orio Shuttle runs between 03:50 am and 01:30 am, with prices starting at €10. Tickets can be bought on-board or online here.
Autostradale runs between 03:50 am and 00:20 am, with prices starting at €10. Tickets can be bought on-board or online here.
Terravision runs between 03:40 am and 5:10 am, with prices starting at €10. Tickets can be bought on-board or online here.
Each operator offers buses that run every 20-30 minutes, and the journey to Milan Bergamo Airport takes approximately 50 minutes. Any luggage costs are already included in the tickets.
