The U.S. Consulate General in Milan is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for a position as “Consular Clerk (General)“, available as of October 20, 2024. 

Duties

Incumbent receives and reviews electronic visa applications for accuracy and completeness according to U.S. immigration law and regulations prior to adjudication by a Consular Officer. Employee prints and returns approved visas according to established procedures. The incumbent is the primary consular cashier and receives and accounts for fees using established internal controls. Employee is the backup timekeeper and completes required Time and Attendance reports. In addition, the incumbent is a back-up citizens services clerk and provides routine and emergency services to U.S. citizens, as required.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a security certificate.

All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and may be subject to a pre-employment medical exam.
Selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time upon receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Education Requirements:

Completion of secondary school is required.

Skills And Abilities: Good drafting skills in English and Italian. Fast and reliable typing (Level II-40 wpm). Ability to use standard suite of Microsoft Office products. Must exercise tact, judgment, and courtesy when dealing with colleagues and the public. Basic knowledge of Information Technology tools and particular emphasis on use of computer databases. A valid driving license type B is required.
