The Era of DayDreaming

Artissima is Italy’s most important contemporary art fair. Since its establishment in 1994, it has combined the presence of an international market with a focus on experimentation and research.

From Friday 1 November to Sunday 3 November 2024 the spaces of the Oval in Torino will host the four flagship sections of the fair – Main Section, New Entries, Monologue/Dialogue and Art Spaces & Editions – and the three curated sections – Present Future, Back to the Future and Disegni – also on view at the digital platform Artissima Voice Over.

In 2024 Artissima welcomes 189 participating Italian and international galleries, including 66 monographic projects.

The Era of Daydreaming is the theme of Artissima 2024, centred on daydreaming as a spontaneous manifestation of thought, a practice of creation projected into the future. A topic of widespread reassessment on the part of neuroscientists, philosophers and artists, daydreaming is an everyday experience known to us all: the ability of the mind to generate its own inner dialogue and to develop a life story through constantly evolving forms of visual thinking. Decisive for creative reverie and artistic production, daydreaming is a spontaneous force that activates hopes, emotions and imagination, shaping the world to come and orienting it towards our expectations.
