BookCity Milano
BookCity Milano is an event that celebrates the written word and fosters a love of reading among people of all ages. Held annually in Milan, this vibrant event brings together authors, publishers, readers and enthusiasts for a diverse program of events, activities and discussions centered around books and literature.
During BookCity Milano, the city comes alive with a wide range of events held in various public and private venues located throughout the city. The event is divided into three days (plus one dedicated to schools), during which meetings, presentations, dialogues, readings aloud, exhibitions, shows, seminars on new reading practices are promoted. Starting from ancient books, new and brand new, from public and private historical collections and libraries, from reading practices as an individual, but also collective events – there is something for everyone.
You can expect to find:
Thematic events in the venue of Milanese cultural and social life;
Out of place events, which bring books and reading to unusual locations and new social scenarios;
Events widespread across the territory, promoted and managed by various protagonists of the city’s cultural life who join the project (publishers, bookshops, libraries, cultural and educational institutions);
Library events;
Laboratory events for teenagers, children and families.
The project aims to give visibility to Milan as a center of editorial production, propose reading as a valuable experience and combine innovation and tradition, therefore having a metropolitan dimension capable of opening up to national and international use.
Since BookCity Milano puts an emphasis on accessibility and inclusivity, the events offered are catered to different interests, ages and backgrounds. Most of the events offer free admission, unless stated otherwise on the dedicated pages.
