Charity Gala Evening by Fondazione Corti for Lacor Hospital
Now in its fifth edition, the Fondazione Corti Gala Dinner is an exclusive evening in support of Lacor Hospital.
The Piero and Lucille Corti Foundation is a non-profit organization whose sole mission
is to support the Lacor Hospital in Northern Uganda. The story of the Corti Foundation and the Lacor Hospital is the story of Lucille Teasdale and Piero Corti, two doctors who settled in Northern Uganda in 1961, got married and in 40 years of life and commitment transformed a small missionary hospital with thirty beds into one of the largest hospitals in Equatorial Africa, which today has 554 beds.
In 1993 they created the Corti Foundation to ensure continuity to the Lacor mission “to offer the best possible care to the greatest number of people at the lowest cost.”
Lacor, with its 3 peripheral health centers, offers care to approximately 200,000 people a year, mostly women and children. Every year, over 9,000 babies are born in its delivery rooms
In its 64-year history, the hospital has successfully faced numerous crisis situations, and has been studied as a health model in a difficult social context characterized by armed conflicts, humanitarian emergencies, epidemics and extreme poverty.
The dinner and catering for the evening are entrusted to the In Presa social cooperative, which offers training and work for young people who are at risk of dropping out of school and are at risk of social hardship.
