The Social Walking Festival

The Social Walking Festival is a celebration of the art of walking, emphasizing the concept of ‘Social Walking’ to promote thought provoking travel and garner a sense of territorial understanding through walking. Founded in 2017, it is the first festival in Milan dedicated to slow paced travel. The event encourages participants to explore new places, forge connections with others, and embrace the beauty of nature at a leisurely pace.

The goal of the event is to create an inclusive and active community of walking enthusiasts, nature lovers, curious travelers, and those seeking to reconnect with their surroundings. The event also serves a dual purpose, to enlighten the participants on environmental concerns as well as offer critical conversations regarding the conservation of our natural heritage, a pressing issue in today’s climate. It is a safe environment to share experiences on the lifestyle of walking as an activity of tranquil contemplation, while discussing the effects of tourism and agro-tourism in both Italy and the world and their affects on our environment. The walking festival promotes a climate-conscious approach to tourism through slow-paced walking.

Not only is it a thought provoking experience, but it also helps participants enjoy physical exercise in an interactive manner. All in all, the event embraces the beauty of waking as a social, cultural, and health-enhancing experience.  

Suitable for participants of all ages and backgrounds, the event encourages people to walk together while discovering new places, immersing themselves in the beauty of nature in an all around campaign for inclusivity.  The event offers a variety of different walks focusing on a multitude of things, ranging from exploring urban settings to tracking the revolutionary story of cappuccino making!
