The Summer Season of the Milan Symphony Orchestra kicks off!
POPs Festival is a cycle of four events dedicated to the great rock repertoire! It takes place in June, on Thursdays and Sundays at the Auditorium in Milan, at 20.30. June under the banner of a timeless repertoire that has marked Western culture since the 1960s.
It starts on Thursday 16 June at 20.30 with “ Beatles in Concert! “, An event dedicated to the four boys from Liverpool who shook the world starting in 1961. Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, a quartet that literally drove the younger generations (and not only) crazy by producing albums that have become cornerstones of Western culture. Think of Help! from 1965, or Revolver from 1966, and Magical Mystery Tour and the immense Abbey Road , from 1969. The Beatles are the fathers of pop music culture, and they gave the impetus to all this to happen on the stages of the world in the following decades at their birth. Everything that belongs to them is now myth: think of the Cavern Club, at no. 10 Matthew Street in London, where a certain John Winston Lennon played with his Quarry Men on August 7, 1957, the first band to perform live in the club. Four years later, on February 21, 1961, it was the Beatles’ turn; McCartney recalls: “ The Cavern was great. Each show had the air of a private party rather than a public performance. They all knew us and during the show they called us by name . It was there that the legend of the Beatles began. The successes, the triumphs, the public acknowledgments and, sometimes, the excesses and scandals. Each of their concerts was a memorable event, and each recording was awaited with excited trepidation. Even today, decades later, they do not cease to excite and excite. As part of the concert on Thursday 16 June, the Milan Symphony Orchestra celebrates the mother of all bands with the music rearranged in a symphonic key by Gill Townend and Bruce Haley: She Loves You , Sgt . Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Twist and Shout , And I Love Her , With a Little Help From My Friends, Hey Jude , are just some of the great Beatles hits that, under the baton of Enrico Lombardi , will resonate in Largo’s Milan Auditorium Mahler also thanks to the voice of Alessandro Formenti , who will star in Strawberry fields forever , Penny Lane, A hard day’s night, Help , and Imagine .
