Welcome to GREAT Britain

· After three years, the event to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in Milan returns to Villa Necchi
· Together with Ambassador Jill Morris and Consul General Tim Flear, host of the Minister of Investment in the United Kingdom, Graham Stuart
· To look to the future, spotlight on the recurrences: from the 100 years of the British Consulate in Milan, to the 100 candles of the RAF and the vote to women

The third and final event of the Queen’s Birthday Parties (QBP) series in Italy will take place on Thursday 21 June in Milan, a series of events to celebrate the British national holiday in honor of Her Majesty, the Queen Elizabeth II, and emphasize the extraordinary bonds that unite the United Kingdom and Italy.

After Naples (June 7th) and Rome (June 14th), Ambassador Jill Morriswill be in Milan to welcome in the splendid setting of Villa Necchi, alongside the Consul General Tim Flear, over 600 guests expected to toast Her Majesty and to a further series of notable occurrences.

It starts from the 100 candles of the British Consulate in Milan, in its central location in Via San Paolo, and the Royal Air Force, which the street-artist David Pompili will highlight with some works realized live during the event. Then the right to vote for women, recognized in the United Kingdom exactly a century ago, and two hundred years since the publication of Mary Shelley’s bestseller, Frankenstein: important anniversaries of a celebration that, looking at the past, points to the further development of relations between Italy and the United Kingdom in the future.

The presence of the Minister of Investment in the United Kingdom Graham Stuart, coming from London to confirm the opening of the British market to Italian investors with whom he will hold several meetings during his stay in Milan, fits into this picture.

To surprise the guests, the acrobatic performances of Kataklò, who will perform in honor of friendship and partnership between Italy and the United Kingdom.

Ambassador Jill Morrissaid: “I am happy to conclude in Milan the series of events planned in honor of Her Majesty in Italy. Our links with this city are solid and profitable, starting from the many opportunities that entrepreneurs and investors, thanks to the presence of our Department for International Trade, know how to achieve in strategic sectors for our economies. Two for all, finance and fashion. I am convinced that, in the years to come, the liveliness and the industriousness of this city will be among the key factors for the success of the renewed partnership between Italy and the United Kingdom “.

Tim Flear, British Consul General in Milan and Director of the Department for International Trade in Italy, added: “This year the festivities for our national holiday are particularly special. Not only do we have the opportunity to officially celebrate Her Majesty’s birthday, but we take the opportunity to celebrate – with great pride – some historical events, including the centenary of the opening of our British Consulate General here in Milan. This evening’s event also recalls the centenary of the right to vote given to British women and the foundation of the Royal Air Force – two strong examples of progress that characterize the history of our country. The United Kingdom is made up of pioneering nations, we are proud of our past and eager to embrace the future”.
