St. Andrew’s Night Ball
St Andrew’s Night Ball with Milan Scottish Country Dancers
Crowne Plaza Hotel, Via K. Adenauer 3, San Donato Milanese
Saturday, 26 November 2022, 19:00-24:00
You are cordially invited to our 28th St Andrew’s Night, a fantastic gala evening to celebrate Scotland’s patron saint. After arriving to the sound of the bagpipes and having enjoyed an aperitif, we will sit down to a richly assorted buffet supper, with wine, coffee and whisky, all included. Then we will draw the raffle.
After the raffle, we will have 3 hours of Scottish Country Dancing, with dances chosen specially to allow everyone to take part, whether or not they have taken one of our courses. As usual, the music will be live, with our musicians, Michael Philip (accordion) and Paul Clancy (keyboards), flown over from Scotland specially for the occasion, ably supported by Colin Jamieson on the drums.
All of this for an all-inclusive price (except for your contributions to the raffle) of €70, lower than it has been for many years. Please book by e-mail to j.murphy@buroservice.com. The confirmation message will include detailed instructions for the evening.
More about St Andrew’s Night Ball
This year’s St Andrew’s Night Ball will be held on Saturday, 26th November at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in San Donato Milanese, chosen – as usual –for its hospitality, easy accessibility by car from the tangenziale and free parking facilities. Not to mention the wooden floor, an essential element in Scottish Country Dancing.
The organisers have made a number of changes this year, specifically with a view to reducing the ticket price, something we can all appreciate in these times of high inflation.
To start with, the evening will commence earlier: at 19:00 instead of 19.30, the idea being to finish an hour earlier, at midnight, which saves money on overtime for the kitchen staff and service staff.
Secondly, while it will still be a sit-down dinner, it will be served as a buffet. This will not only accelerate proceedings, but it will also allow the hotel to offer a much more varied menu (5-6 antipasti, 2 primi, 2 secondi and desserts), which will help cater to everyone’s taste and dietary requirements. Something a fixed menu cannot do.
After dinner, there will be three hours of Scottish Country Dancing (reels, jigs and strathspeys) to live music played, as usual, by Michael Philip (accordion) and Paul Clancy (keyboards), flown in from Scotland specially for the occasion, supported by MSCD’s very own Colin Jamieson on the drums.
Please book through j.murphy@buroservice.com and pay by bank transfer (bonifico bancario) by 7th November at the latest.
Cash and payments will not be handled on the night.
The all-inclusive ticket price is € 70 per head, which is €10 less than in recent years, so it’s great value for money.
